24 DecIndoor Drying vs. Outdoor Drying – Which One Is Right For You?

To Blow Dry or Air Dry?

Have you decided to make the green choice and start using a clothes airer but are unsure whether you would prefer an indoor or an outdoor model? Don’t feel too bad. It doesn’t matter how many times you ask anyone you will always get a different answer. The proponents of indoor models will gladly give you their thoughts on the subject as will the advocates of the outdoor models. So, how exactly should you go about choosing the right one for you? There are a few things that you will have to take into consideration before you make a final decision.

The very first thing you will have to decide is exactly how much room you can allot yourself for your new airer. For indoor airing you need measure the space that you are going to use. You will then have to make a decision as to what style you would like to use. There are several to choose from including foldaway, wall mounted and even indoor washing lines. The only thing that will limit you in your choice is the size of the location in which you wish to use it. One point to remember is that due to their nature clothes airers can take a little more time to dry items, especially indoors. If you need something dry relatively quick then indoors is not the way you would want to go.

Outdoor airers open up even more possibilities. The first of these is that the more room you have the larger an airer you can install. No matter if you decide to go with an old fashioned washing line or if you want to install a wall mounted model you have plenty of choices here as well. Some of the benefits to an outdoor airer or line is that the clothes will have a great fresh smell to them that otherwise would have to be reproduced artificially through the use of chemicals. It also requires that you spend some time outside which can get you a bit of needed sunshine as well as some exercise.

The drawbacks to an outdoor model are that one could not be used often in an area where there is either little sunshine, a great deal of humidity or frequent rain. Also, if there are heavy winds the clothes could possibly blow off and become dirty once more. While both types of clothes airers have their benefits and drawbacks the final decision will be up to you. Also, keep in mind that another possibility is the use of both types. You may use an indoor model when the weather is poor and the outdoor model when the weather is nice. Make sure to choose the option that best suits your needs.
